Former Wild Forward Elected in United States Hockey Hall of Fame

Former Wild forward Matt Cullen was recently elected to the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.

Cullen appeared in 1,516 games with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (Anaheim Ducks), Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

His 1,516 games played are the second-most by an American-born player and the 20th-most in NHL history. He played 272 games with the Wild which was the second most games played with a single team in his career behind the Ducks, where he started his career.

In his 272 career games with the Wild, Cullen recorded 44 goals, 79 assists, and 123 points. He recorded 266 goals, 465 assists, and 731 points in his NHL career and won three Stanley Cups.

The Minnesota native spent two stints with the Wild. His first lasted three years from 2010 to 2013. He returned to the Wild for the 2017-18 season at age 41 and recorded 11 goals, 11 assists, and 22 points in 79 games.

He played one final year back in Pittsburgh, where he won two Stanley Cups, and finished his career by playing in 71 games. He recorded seven goals, 13 assists, and 20 points during the 2018-19 season.

Cullen played 21 years in the NHL from age 21 to 42 and will go down as one of the better U.S. players to play in the NHL. His number nine was also recently retired by the St. Cloud State Huskies where he played his College Hockey at.
