US Exim Bank’s core mission is to facilitate exports and support US jobs – CNBC TV18

Reta Jo Lewis, President and Chair of the Board of Directors at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (US EXIM), recently highlighted the enduring mission of the bank as it celebrates its 90th anniversary.

As America’s sole export credit agency, US EXIM has consistently aimed to facilitate exports and support U.S. jobs—a mission that remains steadfast under the current Biden-Harris administration.

However, Lewis emphasised that the bank’s impact extends beyond U.S. borders, stressing the importance of job creation in host countries as well.

“Our mission today is the same as it was 90 years ago: to support U.S. exports and jobs,” Lewis stated. “But when we talk about jobs, it’s not just about the U.S. We have to consider the jobs in the host countries where we operate, and today, numerous sectors are driving job creation.”

US EXIM has been actively partnering with private sector entities, including India’s ECGC, to foster these international collaborations.

Lewis also underscored the U.S.’s eagerness to invest in large infrastructure projects in India, such as roads and airports, and to engage in sectors like telecommunications and critical minerals. She described this moment as a particularly exciting time for U.S.-India relations, driven by shared values and a mutual commitment to economic growth.

“US-India relations are at a pivotal point, with shared values making us strong stakeholders and partners,” Lewis noted. “This collaboration gives us the opportunity to tackle some of the most pressing economic challenges together, growing as partners and collaborators.”
