UKGC releases new gambling survey data

The newest edition of the Gambling Commission’s Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB) has been released, showing results on par with 2023.

Conducted by NatCen, the report shows data collected from 5,191 adults who were surveyed between January and April 2024.

Forty-eight per cent of respondents had taken part in any gambling activity in the previous four weeks, the same proportion that was observed throughout 2023.

Twenty-one per cent of respondents only took part in lottery draws (either National Lottery or other charity lottery draws) in that time.

Gambling participation is highest for males aged 45 to 54 years old, but removing the lottery-only players shifts the profile to males aged 35 to 44.

The online gambling participation rate was 38 per cent, or 16 per cent with lottery-only players removed.

Apart from lotteries, the next most popular gambling activities were scratchcards, betting and online instant win games.
