A photo has emerged of Chef Jose Andres, who was named the co-chair of the United States President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition in 2022, along with Trump’s would-be assassin, Ryan Wesley Routh. The photo was shared by Mike Crispi, a 2024 Trump delegate, in a post on X.

“Why were members of the Biden-Harris Administration, like Chef Jose Andres, posing for photos with the would-be Trump assassin?,” Crispi wrote, along with the photo.

Here’s the photo:

Routh was fired at by the Secret Service agents protecting Trump while the former president was playing golf at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sunday. He was seen with a firearm by the secret service agents and had not yet fired. There were no injuries reported in the incident.

Officials told the Associated Press that the suspect had dropped the AR-15-style rifle and left the scene in an SUV. He was later apprehended by the police from a nearby neighbourhood.

Who Is Jose Andres?

Jose Andres is a Spanish-American chef credited with popularizing the tapas dining concept in the US. He has opened numerous acclaimed restaurants, including the two Michelin-starred minibars in Washington DC.

Andres also founded World Central Kitchen (WCK), a non-profit providing meals in disaster-stricken areas. His humanitarian work earned him the National Humanities Medal in 2015, which was presented to him at the White House in 2016. In 2022, he became the co-chair of the United States President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.

Latest Updates On Investigation

Acting Director Ronald Rowe Jr. of the Secret Service pointed out that the suspect “did not have a line of sight to the former president” and did not fire at agents before he fled.

Meanwhile, Markenzy Lapointe, US attorney for the Southern District of Florida, said that the federal investigation into the apparent assassination remains in its “early stages.”

“Together we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure accountability,” he told reporters.
