NJ Transit Partners with U.S. Army Reserve to Provide Jobs for Soldiers | 106.3 The Bear

New Jersey Transit and the United States Army Reserve have announced a partnership aimed at providing employment opportunities for reserve soldiers. The agreement was signed at NJ Transit’s headquarters in Newark by NJ Transit Senior Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer Binu Thomas and U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) Private Public Partnership Office Director Alecia R. Grady.

NJ Transit President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett expressed pride in the partnership, stating that the reservists’ skills, leadership, and commitment to service align perfectly with the company’s values. According to NJ Transit’s press release, more than 87% of Army Reserve soldiers combine military service with civilian careers. This partnership aims to assist these soldiers and their families in overcoming barriers to meaningful employment, thereby enhancing their financial stability and community connections.

NJ Transit has a history of supporting veterans and active military members, recognizing the unique experiences, skills, and knowledge they bring to the workforce. The transit agency believes that the experience gained from military service can translate well into many of their positions. On their website, NJ Transit states that they are committed to being an employer of choice for veterans and active military members.

This partnership is not the first initiative by NJ Transit to support veterans. The transit agency has previously teamed up with the Edge4Vets jobs preparation program to connect New Jersey veterans, National Guard members, transitioning military service personnel, and their spouses with careers in transportation. According to NJ Transit, the program has seen success in eight states since its introduction in 2011, with up to eight out of ten participants securing jobs.
