Top performers of the week in high school sports: Who had the best week?
The fall season is in full swing now in high school sports with all sports seeing action.
This week saw some incredible performances from a lot of Holland-area athletes in a lot of different sports.
Who had the best performance? Vote for the top athlete of the week. Voting will go until noon Friday each week.
Here is a little more about each candidate:
Angel Villalobos, Fennville soccer
Scored the game-winner in a 2-1 game against rival Saugatuck, racing to get a beautiful crossing pass and launching it past the goalie.
Hannah Glupker, Hamilton volleyball
Had 15 digs and two aces in a four-setter against Unity Christian.
Layla Winklepleck, Hamilton diving
Won 1-meter diving in a meet against Hudsonville, topping the 200-point plateau.
Henry Gannon, Saugatuck soccer
Had two goals and an assist in a 5-0 win over Watervliet.
Nico Grosso, Holland Christian tennis
Won his No. 4 singles match in a tiebreaker to help the Maroons sweep Grand Rapids South Christian.
Mirra Fenlon, Zeeland East volleyball
Put down 11 kills in a sweep win over Holland.
Charlie Reese, Zeeland East tennis
Won a three-set thriller, over Zeeland West to lead the Chix to a 6-2 rivalry win.
Kylian Monie, Zeeland East soccer
Scored a goal in a 2-0 win over Hamilton.
Clarice VanDort, Zeeland West golf
Shot a 44 to lead the Dux at their OK Green jamboree at Crestview.
Helen Sachs, West Ottawa cross country
Won the prestigious Flashrock Invitational in Carmel, Ind., with some of the top teams in the state of Indiana.
Emma Drnek, Zeeland East cross country
Won the Chargers Autumn Sunrise invite title and OK Black Jamboree this week.
