The FIA has issued its regular pre-weekend document confirming the upgrades each team has brought to the race, revealing the developments that have been worked on in the time since Singapore.

As expected, Red Bull has brought its next upgrade package as it bids to resolve the issues with its RB20 car. This includes a new floor edge — the floor is the most important aerodynamic part of the car — and a revised engine cover/coke bottle area of the car, which interacts with the air flow off the floor.

Its chief title rival, McLaren, has a more extensive number of new parts for this weekend. This includes a new front wing, front suspension, updated front corner to aid brake cooling, a revised rear corner and a new beam wing to help with high downforce requirements.

Both teams will hope the steps forward give them a performance boost, but there has been a trend this year of team’s upgrades actually not integrating well and leading to a performance dip.

McLaren is one of the only teams to have made a step forward with all its upgrades. If it can do the same again with this Austin package, it could be the final boost it needs to end its 26-year title wait.
