As Akansha sported the “I Voted” sticker suggesting that she participated in the ongoing US Elections in which Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are vying for the top presidential post in the USA, fans wondered if the actress was American or Indian by origin.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Akansha shared a video in which she added a GIF featuring Kamala Harris, hinting that she has voted for the Democratic nominee. Check out the post below:

Who is Akansha Ranjan Kapoor?

Alia Bhatt’s best friend is not an Indian but an American citizen. Although her citizenship is still a subject of discussion and only Akansha will be able to shed light on it, Akansha has done her schooling in India.

Akansha is the daughter of actor and film producer Shashi Ranjan and Anu Ranjan, the Founder of The Indian Television Academy. She and her sister Anushka grew up in Mumbai.

Previously, in an interview with Filmfare, Akansha revealed she was born in Mumbai and did her schooling in Jamnabai Narsee School. It was the same school where Alia studied. The two have been friends since then.

Akansha said, “I’ve been born and brought up in Mumbai. I attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu. Then I joined Whistling Woods ITA School of Performing Arts, Mumbai where I did a diploma in acting.”

Akansha also had a cameo in Alia’s recently released film, Jigra. Akansha made her acting debut in Guilty, produced by Karan Johar.
