Bills considered top landing spot for Daniel Jones   | Sporting News

Count the Bills in as the latest team open to signing former Giants quarterback, Daniel Jones.

Nearly a week after the six-year pro was released by New York following a turbulent 2-9 season, the Bills present an intriguing case for Jones to remain in the same state if they can somehow beat the likes of the Jets and Raiders to the punch.

The list of potential Jones suitors also includes Minnesota, San Francisco, and Cleveland. But if the Bills can land the 27-year-old on a cheap deal close to the minimum $375,000 salary he’s owed after clearing waivers, a move to Buffalo isn’t entirely crazy.

Buffalo’s current quarterback room features Josh Allen and 30-year-old Mitch Trubisky, who has attempted only three passes this year for five yards after signing a two-year deal in late March.

With Jones better suited to signing with a playoff-ready team, one that could also offer him the opportunity to sit for a year or two and learn a new offense, the Bills begin to make more and more sense.

With Trubisky’s age in mind, Jones is a definite upgrade at the backup position, while his passing style isn’t that dissimilar to Allen’s, either.

Jones’ best season came in 2022 with the Giants when he led the league with an interception rate of 1.1 to go with over 3,200 passing yards and 15 touchdowns.

With Saquon Barkey, a potential MVP candidate this season in Philadelphia, publicly stating that things didn’t work for him during his time at the Meadowlands, there is room for optimism when it comes to Jones reviving his career elsewhere.
