Lions break multiple franchise records with massive win over Packers | Sporting News

The Detroit Lions can’t stop winning in 2024, as Dan Campbell’s squad picked up an impressive 34-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football in Week 14. With this win, the Lions improved their home record to 6-1 and swept the Packers for the second time in three years.

Though Detroit scored 34 points, it wasn’t a dominant win from the Lions, as the offense couldn’t consistently establish the run game and turned the ball over twice, one being a Jared Goff interception in the first half and the other being a turnover on downs in the final minutes of the third quarter. But Dan Campbell’s crew is resilient and scrappy, making the timely plays in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

With their win over the Packers in Week 14, the Lions clinched a playoff berth for the second consecutive season, which Detroit hasn’t accomplished since 1993-1995. The Lions also notched win No.12, marking the first time in franchise history Detroit has tallied back-to-back 12-win seasons.

The Lions also picked up their 11th straight win on Thursday Night, which is the new franchise record for longest winning streak.

Despite all the injuries on the defense and adversity Detroit has faced this season, the Lions are arguably the best team in the NFL and are the clear frontrunners to land the No.1 seed in the NFC.

The road doesn’t get any easier for Campbell’s group, as Detroit will host the Buffalo Bills in Week 15 in a potential Super Bowl preview, and a Week 18 contest versus the Minnesota Vikings is also on the horizon. But there’s not a team in the NFL playing better than the Detroit Lions and the franchise is enjoying some much-needed success after decades of pain and agony.
