Party City Canada stores unaffected by U.S. store closures: Canadian Tire

News that all Party City stores across the United States were closing for good by the end of Friday had some wondering if the party was over north of the border too.

It isn’t.

Not according to a Canadian Tire spokesperson who told CityNews on Friday the Canadian arm of the popular store is an entirely separate entity from the American one.

Canadian Tire purchased Party City Canada in 2019, and it’s not affected by the closures south of the border.

“The operations of Party City in Canada are entirely separate from Party City Holdco in the U.S.,” the spokesperson said.

“Party City Canada remains open for business online and in-store, and will continue to provide Canadians with everything they need to celebrate all their life moments.”

CNN reported earlier Friday that all of the American Party City stores were closing after 40 years in business due to financial challenges tied to inflation.
