American Airlines to cut flights from Austin to four U.S. cities

AUSTIN, Texas — American Airlines announced Wednesday it will discontinue several routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, affecting flights to four U.S. cities.

The carrier plans to end service from Austin to Nashville, Raleigh/Durham, and Boston in November, with flights to Orange County, California, ceasing in January.

Despite these cuts, American said it will maintain connections to all eight of its hubs currently served from Austin.

American Airlines provided the following statement to CBS Austin:

“As part of the continuous evaluation of our network, American will reduce service from Austin (AUS) starting this winter. American will continue to offer customers access to our comprehensive global network of more than 350 destinations with one-stop connections. We’re proactively reaching out to impacted customers and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Earlier this year, American also announced plans to discontinue routes toLas Vegas, Orlando and New Orleans, as well as seasonal flights to Reno, Nevada, and Palm Springs, California.
