BNamericas – Group of Brazilian infra firms announce plan…

A group of major Brazilian infrastructure firms, comprising key operators in the highway, railroad, port, airport, waterway and urban mobility segments, announced a plan to invest 38bn reais (US$6.7bn) over the next two years.

The plan comprises investments from six companies forming the local infrastructure association MoveInfra – CCR, EcoRodovias, Hidrovias do Brasil, Rumo, Santos Brasil and Ultracargo.

The planned spending by these firms would be 52% more than the investments they made in 2022-23, the association said in a statement.

The companies in MoveInfra operate through concession contracts in the infrastructure sector, which have proliferated in Brazil in recent years.

Since 2016, with the creation of the Brazil’s investment partnerships program (PPI), 353 bidding processes have been held, generating 1.29tn reais in contracted investments.

“This is a result of the regulatory stability created by the legislation, along with the PPP Law 11,079, which will be 20 years old in a few days’ time. We’re talking about 54 airport projects, 12 road projects, 67 port and terminal projects, and six railroad projects in the last decade alone,” said Natália Marcassa, head of MoveInfra.
