USA Today recently published a list of the ten best candy stores in the U.S., and Estes Park’s iconic The Taffy Shop took first place.
According to USA Today, these candy stores offer a variety of delicious treats, as well as allow customers to “discover new flavors, support local businesses, and enjoy a fun and nostalgic experience.”
USA Today’s 10Best is a readers’ choice awards program that highlights the best in everything from destinations and things to do to hotels and food and drink. An expert panel nominated their top picks for the best candy stores in the country, and readers voted to determine the winners.
Open since 1935, The Taffy Shop is a staple of Estes Park. The store serves a “gourmet, handmade product made from scratch.” The original secret recipe has stayed the same over five generations of customers, according to the store. As well as classic flavors such as lemon, vanilla, and peppermint, customers can try daily flavors including blueberry, chocolate cherry, and orange creamsicle.
Yelp reviewers rave about the taffy, with one claiming that “it’s the best simple, fresh, and delicious salt water taffy ever.” Another reviewer writes that the “overall experience is top-notch,” with “friendly service and mouthwatering taffy flavors.”
