EveryMatrix at iGB Live: The advantages of Brazil, future of Peru and limitations of Nigeria

One of the most exciting things about emerging markets is the unpredictable nature of players trends.

At iGB Live in Amsterdam, Alexandra Breinig, Casino Sales Manager at EveryMatrix, spoke at a panel

Brazil

With Brazil being one of the hottest topics of the moment, it’s no wonder the jurisdiction came up pretty quickly for EveryMatrix.

EveryMatrix has made it no secret that the supplier has ambitious plans for Brazil, Peru, Mexico and potentially Chile in the year ahead. There have been plenty of partnerships formed with businesses across the industry via casino direct integration via CasinoEngine or aggregation via SlotMatrix.

Breinig explained: “The advantage of Brazil is that because there’s no current regulation, operators can really choose the gamut of what kind of gamification or gameplay mechanics they want to leverage in their portfolio and in their promotional activities here.

“You can leverage not only traditional features in terms of what games you’re offering, but you have much more flexibility in what kinds of personalisation and gamification you can adopt in your strategy, such as singular or multi-tiered jackpots.

“However with Nigeria, it is a very large country, and depending on where the players are based, they may have really good data network and speed, or they may not”

“You can offer variety to your challenges, like offering prizes where you can have a combination of cash rewards, non-monetary rewards such as merchandise or swag, as well as adding additional bonuses as part of those rewards.”

Of course, the Brazilian Government recently announced that gaming operators must secure a licence by the end of 2024, although the exact details of how the industry will be regulated are still being ironed out in some places.

Peru

As for Peru, Breinig broke the nuances of this jurisdiction down nicely: “Peru is another unique case and that it’s only recently gone live with their actual licensing this summer, and so at the moment when we talk about player behaviour, it’s still a bit skewed in that the majority of the vendors who are currently certified have much more volatile games.

“With time, we think that the more diversity in terms of content that becomes available with more vendors becoming certified, this player preference and volatility may also evolve or is very likely to evolve as well.

“So when we talk about player behaviour and player profiles similar to Brazil, these are mainly sports betters, but we are seeing month-on-month, much more traffic being driven towards casino and we think in the next five to 10 years, casino could eventually outweigh sportsbook traffic in Peru.”

Nigeria

It’s not just South America that operators are looking at this year, though, as Africa has also proven to be popular.

Regarding this, Breinig said: “Despite the fact that [Nigeria] is regulated, there is still quite a bit of flexibility in how you can interact with your players.

“We think in the next five to ten years, casino could eventually outweigh sportsbook traffic in Peru”

“However, it is a very large country, and depending on where the players are based, they may have really good data network and speed, or they may not.

“So there’s a lot of difficulty with operators in finding a content offering that matches the technical limitations that players may have at their expos and so, more often than not, we see classic games being offered because they are adapted to this kind of environment.”

It’s not just the technology that EveryMatrix has looked into, but the player behaviour too.

Breinig concluded: “So at the moment, we see that in-game free spins tend to be the most utilised in terms of mechanics.

“One way that you can increase this further is by offering progressive jackpots, again something like single jackpots to certain segments.

“You can offer multi-tiered jackpots as well, or even individual jackpots to certain VIPs and so on, so you can create a much more personalised experience.”
