Fashion Institute of Technology: Pro-Palestinian Protestors Storm, Occupy NY Building| VIDEOS
The pro-Palestine student protests in the United States spread to the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, New York on Thursday. Videos shared on social media showed a dozen protestors wearing Palestinian flag-coloured headscarves, storming a building at the institute and occupying it.
Whereas the initial video shared by the Citizen Free Press showed a dozen protestors, a later video shared by the X account @ScooterCasterNY showed hundreds of pro-Palestine protestors storming and occupying a building at the campus. Reports say they are in solidarity with the protestors at the Columbia University.
Here are some of the videos shared on X.
The protests at the Fashion Institute of Technology was confirmed by the New York Post, as well, citing the video initially shared by the Citizen Free Press. The report also noted that huge protests also broke out at the state-funded New York City College on Thursday morning.
An encampment was set up at New York City College’s Convent Avenue campus Thursday morning where hundreds of protestors gathered, and the campus was filled with flags and placards calling out Israel’s action in Gaza, per independent reporter Talia Jane, who was cited by the New York Post.
Since then, the protests have spread across US universities like wildfire, and has led to massive police action in some places, with hundreds of students detained. It has also drawn sharp reaction from state officials, with many accusing the protestors of being antisemitic and anti-Israel.
