How to watch Serie A for free in 2024: Trials, discounts, prices for Italy soccer league on CBS, Paramount+ | Sporting News

Known for its goal scoring flair and defensive tactical solidity, Italian soccer has a strong place near the top of European football.

The top tier of league play in Italy, known as Serie A, features some of the world’s most popular and financially strong clubs like Juventus, Inter, AC Milan, and others who boast some of the best players the world has to offer.

Alongside its coverage of the UEFA Champions League, CBS Sports has brought unprecedented access to Serie A fans in the United States for American viewers. With live game coverage plus extensive studio shows, their informative and entertaining content has rivaled other major providers with their rapidly growing soccer portfolio.

The Sporting News brings you all the latest on how to access Serie A matches and coverage from CBS Sports in the United States for the 2024/25 season.

How to watch Serie A in USA for 2024/25: TV channel, live stream

  • TV channels: CBS, CBS Sports Network
  • Streaming: Paramount+, Fubo, CBS Sports Golazo

Paramount Global owns exclusive rights to all Italian football in the United States, including Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italia.

The only way to watch every match of the 2024/25 season will be via streaming service Paramount+, who offer access to every single match through the entire campaign.

Many matches are made available on television in addition to being accessible on Paramount+. Select matches each week will be made available on CBS Sports Network, while others are accessible on the network’s 24-hour free streaming channel CBS Sports Golazo, which can be accessed on Paramount+ as well.

How to watch Serie A for free in 2024/25 season

There are two ways to watch Serie A matches for free in 2024/25. As of the start of the season, Paramount+ is offering a one-week free trial of the streaming service, which not only gives viewers access to all Serie A matches during that span, but all of the platform’s other soccer offerings, most notably the UEFA Champions League, as well as EFL games through the English lower leagues.

The other way to watch Serie A matches for free across the 2024/25 season is by signing up for the one-week free trial of Fubo to access games which are selected for television broadcast.

Some other subscription services also boast special offers to secure Paramount+ at no cost. For example, subscribers of Walmart Plus get Paramount+ along with it as part of their subscription. Additionally, anyone with a Showtime premium subscription gets Paramount+ as part of the subscription.

How much does it cost to watch Serie A on Paramount+?

Option Monthly Yearly
Paramount+ Essential $5.99/month $59.99
Paramount+ with Showtime $11.99/month $119.99

A subscription to Paramount+ is the only way to watch every match of the 2024/25 Serie A season.

As of the start of the campaign, a subscription to the base, ad-supported Paramount+ Essential costs $5.99 per month. There is also a yearly option for $59.99, which comes out to around $5 per month, a savings of around $1 per month or around 20 percent.

There is also a no-ads version that includes Showtime, costing $11.99 per month or $119.99 for the full year.

Student discount for Serie A on Paramount+

Currently, Paramount+ is offering a student discount of around 25 percent for a subscription to Paramount+ Essentials.

Students who pass a student verification are eligible to secure a subscription to the base service for $4.19 per month.

How to watch Serie A on other cable or streaming services

Paramount+ remains the only way to watch every match of the 2024/25 Serie A season, but games designated for television broadcast on CBS or CBS Sports Network can be accessed on a number of platforms.

Fubo

Plan Monthly Channels
Fubo Pro $79.99/month CBS, CBS Sports Network

Fubo offers a free one-week trial that allows a viewer to access all of the streaming service’s channels across seven days at no cost.

The base Fubo Pro plan includes 183 channels for $79.99 per month, including both CBS and CBS Sports Network, where Serie A fans can watch all televised matches.

Sling TV

Plan Monthly Channels
Blue $40/month*  —
Orange $40/month*  —
Orange & Blue $55/month*  —
Paramount+ with Showtime +$10/month Paramount+

* Price shown is the regular price for each package. All Sling packages are half off for the first month, with the reduced price not shown.

Sling splits its channels into two base packages plus the availability for add-ons. Unfortunately, one of Sling’s glaring omissions is all CBS offerings, including CBS network channel and CBS Sports Network.

However, there is a workaround for Sling subscribers. Those with a Sling login have the option to add the upgraded Paramount+ package with Showtime for $10 a month extra, a slight discount on the standalone option.

YouTube TV

Plan Monthly Channels
Base Plan $72.99/month CBS, CBS Sports Network

YouTube TV’s base plan includes both CBS and CBS Sports Network.

One advantage of YouTube TV is that its base plan includes other channels with heavy soccer offerings, including USA Network (Premier League), ESPN (Bundesliga, La Liga, FA Cup), beIN Sports (Ligue 1), and Fox Sports (international soccer).

DirecTV

Plan Monthly Channels
Entertainment $59.99/month CBS
Ultimate $104.99/month CBS Sports Network

If Serie A fans are looking to secure more traditional cable, DirecTV is a less flexible option using a satellite. Customers are locked into a year-long contract, but it does add the ease of one home for all channels.

While the base DirecTV package carries all network channels including CBS, customers would have to upgrade all the way to the Ultimate package, the third tier of DirecTV offerings, to secure CBS Sports Network where most televised Serie A matches are aired.

How many matches are played in a Serie A season?

A traditional Serie A season is contested as a round-robin format, with all 20 teams playing each other participant both home and away.

This means each club has 19 possible opponents, playing each one twice for a total of 38 matches in a season. Multiply that by all 20 clubs before dividing by two to account for duplicate listings by both clubs, and it results in 380 total matches per season.
