Injunction against casino proposals granted in Mexico
An injunction against a proposal banning new casinos with slot machines and permit renewals for existing casinos was granted by a federal judge.
Gabriel Regis said the proposal from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was unconstitutional under the Federal Law on Games and Sweepstakes.
More than 400 casinos in the country can continue operating and renew their permits, according to reports from local media El Clarinete.
Additionally, Regis declared Article 91 of the same regulation to be unconstitutional, authorizing the usage of roulette and card games at slot halls and casinos.
