Philippines: Online Casino Criminals Use Plastic Surgery to Evade Arrest

In the Philippines, cosmetic surgeries and procedures are gaining more popularity, not for aesthetics, but for crime. Authorities in the Philippines have raided secret illegal hospitals that have been offering plastic surgery services to criminals, fugitives, and scam centre workers to evade arrest. In May, three doctors and a Vietnamese nurse were arrested during the raid and none of them were licensed to work in the Philippines. Officials say two such hospitals are likely to be shut down in the coming weeks. Clients, who are mostly from online casinos and are involved in scams and human trafficking, are getting hair transplants, dental implants, skin whitening, and other treatments.
