Rams add secondary help in latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft | Sporting News

The Rams continue to fight for life in a crowded NFC playoff picture, improving to 6-6 on Sunday with a come-from-behind win over the New Orleans Saints.

Sean McVay’s side has been both frustrating and encouraging at times this season, as witnessed during the first half in the Superdome when the Rams trailed 6-0 before staging a second-half comeback thanks to Kyren Williams and the defense.

LA looks set in the pass rush department with Braden Fiske and Jared Verse both in the running for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, but with the secondary allowing 20 passing touchdowns this season – the 11th most in the league – the Rams could do with some depth at cornerback.

In Pro Football Focus’ Monday mock draft, Trevor Sikkema made the case for the Rams taking Notre Dame corner Benjamin Morrison at pick 17, stating:

“Hip injuries can be particularly concerning for cornerbacks, which might cause Morrison to slide out of the first round if his medical evaluations don’t check out as hoped. However, when healthy, Morrison’s on-field performance consistently showcases first-round caliber talent.”

Morrison has spent three seasons with the Fighting Irish but has played in only six games after being ruled out for the season following a mid-October game against Stanford with that same hip injury.

Now a junior, he led the Independent Conference in interceptions during his freshman year with six, and projects as a solid first-round pick with good lateral movement and the ability to play both slot and outside corner.

Defensive coordinator Chris Shula has received great production from safety Jaylen McCollough this year, who leads the team in interceptions with four, while Kamren Kinchens, a 22-year-old rookie, has proved his worth after being selected in the third round.

If Morrison is deemed healthy and ready to start Week 1 next year, he might turn into a potential steal for the Rams if they choose to address their secondary in the first round.
