Ruto opens Vivo Fashion Group’s first store in Atlanta, Georgia
President William Ruto on Tuesday launched Vivo Fashion Group’s first store in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States of America.
The launch of the new store happened at a time when Ruto is on a tour of the US.
The Vivo Fashion Group was co-founded 13 years ago by Wandia Gichuru who is also its CEO.
Ruto lauded the milestone achieved by the company saying that it is one of the largest fashion brands in East Africa.
“The story of Vivo Fashion Group demonstrates the impact of visionary enterprise and highlights the role of women in leadership, business and entrepreneurship,” Ruto said.
“The bold colours, striking patterns, vibrant textures and meticulous designs that surround us reflect the diversity and rich history of Kenya and the African continent. Your designs beautifully merge traditional and modern African styles and symbolism.”
The company has been designing and manufacturing 100% of its products in Kenya and has 25 stores across the region. It employs over 380 people.
Ruto commended the company for recently joining the Nairobi Securities Exchange Ibuka Programme.
“Through the programme, Vivo should find it easier to access various equity or debt capital markets to finance business growth and further development,” Ruto said.
On Monday the Head of State started his visit to the Atlanta University Centre.
He then visited the Tyler Perry Studios-Creative Economy where he met American TV host Steve Harvey during which they discussed areas of partnerships with the creative industry.
The President’s US visit will Wednesday shift to Washington DC where a series of activities are lined up including meeting with US President Joe Biden.
