That’s a decent amount of top-end value, and I was intrigued to see that Slotbox Casino bonuses are “non-sticky”. This means you can play any games you like and make withdrawals without sacrificing your bonus credits and free spins. 

Great, so this is the best online casino welcome bonus in Ireland? Not quite. The marketing team has put a certain amount of spin on the advert. I’m not saying they’ve been deceitful or that I’m annoyed, it’s more a case that some details haven’t been explained as clearly as they could be. 

Specifically, the use of the term “non-sticky” and the following sentence imply that bonuses don’t have wagering requirements:

“Meaning you can play the way you like, and when you win big, you can withdraw instantly – no strings attached”.

Bonuses do have wagering requirements, as I’ll explain in the next section of this Slotbox Casino review. It’s also worth noting that the €1,000 bonus pot is spread over your first three deposits:

• 1st deposit offer: 100% bonus up to €100 and 100 free spins
• 2nd deposit offer: 50% bonus up to €200
• 3rd deposit offer: 25% bonus up to €700

In general, I prefer one-time deposit bonuses, but there are advantages to breaking up offers into separate parts. Specifically, the wagering requirement (aka playthrough) is lower.

For example, it’s easier to hit a 30x playthrough on two €100 bonuses than a single €200 bonus. It’s easier because you have to hit a lower target, which, in turn, means you aren’t locked in any bonus restrictions for as long. 

Being a non-sticky welcome bonus means this isn’t as much of an issue at Slotbox as it normally would be. However, it’s a point worth remembering when you’re claiming deposit bonuses at other top-rated online casinos in Ireland.

Slotbox Ireland rightly has terms and conditions for all of its offers, including the welcome bonus. The slightly ambiguous marketing material might lead you to think there aren’t any wagering requirements, but it’s my job to point out that there are some. 

You can request withdrawals with an active offer and not lose your bonus credits. That’s what we in the industry call “non-sticky” bonuses. So, in this regard, the marketing material is accurate. 

Non-sticky bonuses were a thing around 2010-2015 but seemed to fall out of favour despite being great for players. Therefore, it’s nice to see Slotbox reviving a type of bonus that doesn’t restrict withdrawals.

Calling a casino “Slotbox” sets a certain amount of expectation with regard to slots. I’m happy to report that my expectations were met in terms of quality, quantity, and variety. Slot games from some big-name providers, such as Yggdrasil, are missing, but the gaps are few and far between. 

As ever, games from the likes of NetEnt, Play’n Go, and Pragmatic Play shine brightest. However, I’d urge you to check out slots from niche software providers such as Endorphina and Bullshark.

These providers have to stand out by doing things differently, which is why games such as Mafia Clash and 100 Zombies have unique features, including in-game reality checks and wild 100x multipliers.

Locating virtual blackjack tables isn’t as easy as it should be. The homepage doesn’t mention anything about virtual table games, and I only found out they exist by tapping the “search” button. This is something I’d like to see improved in the future.

The majority of blackjack games at Slotbox are located in the live casino lobby. I’m not mad about that, but it would be nice to have a few more virtual blackjack tables.

The positives, however, are that you play low house-edge class variants for less than €1 per round, as well as novel variants with bonus payouts, such as Pirate 21.

Poker is something of a surprise package. I knew my Slotbox review would include poker, but I thought it would be little more than a passing reference because, in general, Irish online casinos don’t offer a lot of these games. Slotbox bucks this trend.

Unlike the blackjack lobby, there are more virtual poker games than live dealer alternatives. Classics such as Caribbean Stud are present and correct, but my favourites are the Casino Hold’em games. There are a few live casino variants of note, particularly Texas Hold’em. 

However, if you’re a fan of virtual casino games, 3-Hand Casino Hold’em from Play’n Go is a must. As well as having the opportunity to win 100x prizes from a €1 bet, the combination of lounge music and lightning option (i.e. speed up the game) make this poker variant extremely entertaining.

Live casino gaming at Slotbox is, in my view, second only to slots. In fact, in certain ways, I think the live casino games are better than the reel-based counterparts.

Roulette is another highlight, thanks in no small part to Lightning and XXXtreme Lightning Roulette. I also enjoyed Double Ball Roulette despite the odds being slightly worse than classic European Roulette. 

For me, the star attractions of Slotbox Casino’s live dealer lobby are game shows. The ever-popular Dream Catcher and Crazy Time are available for fun (aka free) and real-money play. Lightning spinoffs, such as Lightning Dice, are also great, and slot-based game shows like Gonzo’s Treasure Map add another layer of creativity to the mix.

Rounding out the virtual casino games lobby at Slotbox is a small but well-appointed selection of instant-win offerings. The main games of note are:

The FAQ will be your first port of call when you need help. Quite a few answers are too vague for my liking. For example, the payments section repeatedly tells you to “log in” for a list of deposit and withdrawal options. I want to see this information presented in the FAQ, not hidden behind a login page. 

The good news is that Slotbox customer support agents are available 24/7 via live chat and email. The agent I spoke to was friendly and provided the answers missing from the FAQ within a conversation that lasted no more than three minutes. 

📱 Slotbox app and mobile play

The Slotbox Irish Casino online site has one main advantage over its mobile counterpart. That advantage is the window-in-window feature I mentioned earlier. Unfortunately, simultaneously playing games and browsing the website on a mobile screen isn’t possible. 

I can’t really criticise the developers for this because window-in-window software isn’t common in the gambling industry. What I can be slightly critical of is the fact that Slotbox doesn’t have iOS and Android apps. 

The website has been optimised for mobile devices, including tablets, so that’s a positive. What’s more, mobile users get access to the same selection of games, promotions, and payment options as desktop users.
