This San Diego spot named best indie ice cream shop in country by USA Today
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A San Diego shop has landed the coveted top spot on USA Today’s list of the best independent ice cream shops in the entire country.
Coming in at No. 1 on USA Today’s list of 10Best Indie Ice Cream Shops across the US in 2024, An’s Dry Cleaning offers unique flavors of made-from-scratch gelato on a seasonal, rotating menu.
The ice cream shop is open seven days a week from noon to 11 p.m. in North Park at the corner of 30th Street and Adams Avenue. You can also grab gelato at their other locations, in Del Mar and Petco Park, with an Ocean Beach location opening soon, according to their website.
Despite their name, An’s Dry Cleaning is only a nod to the previous business that the gelato shop took over. Opening in 2018, An’s finished in second place on the USA Today list in 2023, and is the only West Coast ice cream shop to make the top 10 this year.
Not only did the local business make a national list, in celebration, An’s is offering $1 gelato on July 1 until they sell out, their website states.
Currently, their menu boasts unique gelato flavors like mango/passionfruit, strawberry/dark chocolate/cream, salted caramel/chocolate covered cones, and chocolate/orange, just to name a few. But the flavors do change seasonally.
