United States And Other Countries Have Set Travel Bans During Conflict Between Israel And Lebanon

With the current conflict between Israel and Lebanon, airlines are making mass adjustments to their flight schedules. The U.S. in particular issued travel bans months ago, and recently updated trips to Tel Aviv and Beirut. We’ll take a closer look at the latest, and what other airlines have issued bans of their own.

We’ll also reveal what countries are doing to evacuate their nationals from Lebanon. Thousands are scrambling to evacuate the area at the moment. Given the dangers involved, the volume of flights has been compromised.

American Airlines And United Airlines Have Suspended Flights To Israel For The Foreseeable Future

On Tuesday, a warning was issued by the Israeli military advising the evacuation of those in Lebanon as warfare continues between the two sides. Countries are evacuating their own from Lebanon, while airlines have also suspended flights.

American Airlines extended their travel ban to Israel over a month ago because of the ongoing Hamas war. The airline revealed the suspended flights will continue at least until March of 2025.

United Airlines also updated their current flight status to Tel Aviv. The airline has suspended all flights for the foreseeable future for security reasons.

  • Delta Airlines canceled flights from New York to Tel Aviv for the rest of 2024.

Other countries from around the world have issued bans of their own on Israel.

Airlines Banning Trips To Tel Aviv:

Air France: Flights to Tel Aviv And Beirut Both Suspended

Air India: Suspended Tel Aviv Flight

Easy Jet (UK): Suspended As Of April, resuming in late March of 2025.

Similar to the United States and other countries, the UK is acting in an effort to aid nationals stuck in Lebanon. According to BBC, the UK government has chartered a commercial flight out of Lebanon.

  • British nationals and children under the age of 18 are priorities, along with vulnerable citizens. The plane is set to leave on Wednesday from Beirut.

There is said to be between 4,000 and 6,000 UK nationals in Lebanon at the moment. The government will be paying for the flight. The plane is set to depart from Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. There is no timetable at the moment for how fast the UK can get citizens out of Beirut. The hope is for a fast process, but given the current risks involved, there really aren’t any guarantees.

Victoria Lupton, who is in Lebanon at the moment voiced her concerns with BBC. She was told to get a flight elsewhere, without the help of the British government.

“A week ago the British government emailed us saying we should be buying our own flight, which was quite a difficult message to receive because there were no flights to be had.”

Thankfully, Lupton was able to get a flight to Athens, but was then told she was getting a chartered flight from the British government. She decided to stick to her original flight out of Athens. Many are in a similar situation as Lupton, scrambling to get out of Lebanon.
