United States men’s national soccer team friendly vs. Brazil: How to watch, rosters
Christian Pulisic on how Gregg Berhalter wants to ‘change soccer in America’
Gregg Berhalter has taken his lumps as head coach of the USMNT, but Christian Pulisic explains why he still has lofty goals to change soccer culture in the United States.
The U.S. men’s national soccer team‘s quest to build an abundance of momentum for Copa América and through to the 2026 World Cup hit a brick wall on Saturday.
The USMNT dropped a dud of a performance in a 5-1 loss to Colombia, the squad’s worst loss sincethe Jürgen Klinsmann era.
That result is an unfortunate and humbling moment for coach Gregg Berhalter’s assemblage. The task gets even tougher on Wednesday night when the team plays perennial world soccer-football powerhouse Brazil in its second Copa América tune-up match. Brazil, alongside South American rival Argentina, will enter this summer’s Copa América as a heavy favorite to win the tournament. The USMNT owns a 1-18-0 record against Brazil, with the lone victory coming in the semifinals of the 1998 Concacaf Gold Cup.
The USMNT’s Copa América group stage opener is on Sunday, June 23 against Bolivia at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, regular home of the NFL‘s Dallas Cowboys. Brazil’s Copa América group stage opener is on Monday, June 24 against Costa Rica at SoFi Stadium, regular home of the NFL‘s Los Angeles Rams and Chargers.
