USDA reappoints Robert Petter to United States Soybean Board – Talk Business & Politics

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reappointed Arkansas soybean producer Robert Petter of DeValls Bluff to the United States Soybean Board (USB). Petter will represent Arkansas during his second three-year term.

“As a USB board member, Robert continues his advocacy for the interests of Arkansas soybean farmers on a national scale, helping to secure the ongoing success of the state’s soybean industry,” said Brad Doyle, a soybean producer from Poinsett County and Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board chairman.

Petter is one of three from Arkansas serving on USB, which is composed of 77 farmer-leaders representing 29 states as well as the Eastern and Western regions. The board’s size is determined by regional soybean production, and all members are nominated by a Qualified State Soybean Board (QSSB). USB operates under the authority of the Soybean Promotion, Research and Consumer Information Act.

“As a member of the United Soybean Board, I’m committed to advancing Arkansas’ soybean industry on a national scale,” said Petter. “With nearly three decades of experience as a producer, my goal is to ensure long-term sustainability and growth for our state’s agriculture.”

In his second term, Petter will serve on three committees within USB. As a Work Group Lead, he will focus on advancing initiatives that promote the health and nutrition of soybeans within the supply chain. He is also a member of the Value Alignment Committee, where he works to prevent the duplication of research projects. Additionally, Petter will serve on the Audit & Evaluation Committee, where he helps shape the organization’s overall strategies to align its messaging and purpose with USB’s mission.

The USDA appointed five new farmer-leaders and reappointed 12 others, including Petter. In total, 17 directors and alternates from 16 states will begin their terms.
