Gonzaga and McNeese face off in a battle of the one of the best offensive teams versus one of the best defensive teams.
The Bulldogs come into tonight’s matchup with the seventh-best scoring offense in the nation at 84.9 points per game. Gonzaga also shoots 51.6% from the field, which ranks second in the country.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, allowed the third-fewest field goals per game at just 20.6 and the fifth-fewest points per game at 61.5. McNeese is also third in the country in steals and allows the fewest 2-point field goals among all schools this season.
Forwards Graham Ike and Anton Watson lead the Bulldogs in scoring and on the boards. Ike averaged 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while Watson scored 14.4 points and grabbed 7.1 rebounds per game. Guards Nolan Hickman and Ryan Nembhard both averaged at least 12 points per game.
McNeese has some former Power-Five experience in its deck. Head coach Will Wade coached at LSU for five seasons where he made three tournament appearances before he was fired for recruiting violations. The Cowboys’ leading scorer, Shahada Wells, played two seasons at TCU and averages 17.8 points, 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Gonzaga won nine consecutive games before it fell to Saint Mary’s in the West Coast Conference final. McNeese is on a 11-game winning streak that includes a Southland conference title and only has three losses on the season.

The NCAA Midwest regional game between Gonzaga and McNeese is set to tip off at 7:25 p.m. ET from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Gonzaga has made the NCAA tournament every year since Mark Few became head coach in 1999. The Bulldogs have also advanced past the first round for 14 consecutive tournaments and made it to the Sweet 16 in eight consecutive seasons. They’ve made two national championships since 2017 but lost both.
This will be be McNeese’s first tournament appearance since 2002 and third in school history. The Cowboys have never won an NCAA tournament game, though, after losses to No. 3 Mississippi State in 2002 and No. 1 Illinois in 1989.
