Discount grocery store Aldi is expanding and will soon have new locations in nine states.
Seventeen new Aldi stores are preparing for grand openings, per the Aldi website. Most of the locations’ exact opening dates have not yet been disclosed.
These locations are just a fraction of the 800 total stores the German grocer aims to open throughout the United States by the end of 2028. The company is also in the process of converting old Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores into Aldi locations.

Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets also converting to Aldi
The 800 new Aldi stores combing by the end of 2028 will be a combination of new openings and store conversions, as USA TODAY previously reported.
In August 2023, Aldi acquired about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets located in the Southeast, according to a news release.
The grocer said in March it expected about 50 old Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores to begin the conversion process in the latter half of 2024 and the majority of them would reopen as Aldi in 2025.
After all new stores open, Aldi said in a news release that it will operate about 3,200 stores nationwide.
