Winter weather warning as holiday travel plans hit by snow
Over the weekend, rain will spread east from the South and thunderstorms will strike across the South.

Meterologists warn of potential tornadeos, high wind gusts and hail in addition to heavy downpours, all of which will contribute to dangerous travel conditions.
Meanwhile, in the West, rain and mountain snow will hit Northern California, Oregon and Washington into parts of the Rockies.
Residents in Northern California and southwest Oregon should prepare for potential flooding and landslides.
Airport delays due to weather are expected in several places on Saturday and Sunday.
Atlantic, Boston, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington may see delays on Saturday.
Atlantic, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Orland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washinton could experience delays on Sunday.

Then, leading up to New Year’s Eve on Tuesday, inclement weather conditions will persist.
Rain will fall in New England combined with lake-enhanced rain and snow showers from Lake Ontario, though the South will likely dodge the rain.
A separate rain storm may hit the central Plains and Midwest as snow falls in the Northern Plains.
Rain from the central U.S. will move east by Tuesday as parts of the Ohio Valley, South and mid-Atlantic may see rain.
Additionally, winter weather could come to the northern region of the Great Lakes.
Out West, the region will be mostly dry with patches of rain and mountain snow in the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies.
On Monday, cities including Boston, New York and Kansas City, may experience airport delays.
On Tuesday, cities including Atlantic, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., may see delays.
